Recognition of Prior Learning

Individuals who feel they already possess and can demonstrate current competency in all or part of any course/qualification offered by REIWA Learning will be encouraged and may undertake their program via the assessment only process of Recognition of Prior Learning.

Recognition of Prior Learning is the term used to describe a number of assessment processes resulting in the formal recognition of competencies that a person has acquired through formal or informal training, work experience and/of life experience. Recognition of Prior Learning is an alternative pathway to a qualification and/or Statement of Attainment.

The process of Recognition of Prior Learning is not designed to circumvent the learning process. It will assist you to identify the skills and knowledge you currently possess that are relevant to the workplace. It is important to remember that this is a 'Demonstration' of your competence, not an assumption.

The main focus of Recognition of Prior Learning is what has been learned rather than how, where or when it was learned. Recognition of Prior Learning focuses on both the demonstration of competence and the currency of that competence to industry standards.
